Confusion prevails on operating bus park in Sarlahi
Despite the construction of a bus park with modern facilities in Malangwa, district headquarters of Sarlahi, there is a confusion about its operation. The bus park, which was constructed at a cost of nearly Rs. 60 million through the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction of the Federal Government in Janakpurdham, has become unusable. It has been more than five months since the construction of the bus park completed. The municipal office in Malangwa has not shown any interest in bringing the fully-equipped bus park with the terminal building into operation.
Three substations, transmission line come into operation
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has brought three 220 kilovolt (kV) substations into operation on the same day. The Authority has started the operation of 220 kV three substations in Inaruwa of Sunsari and Tumlingtar and Baneshwar by charging electricity from Thursday. The 220/132/33 kV Tumlingtar and 220/ 33 kV Baneshwar substations have power transformers of 260 MVA and 60 MVA capacity respectively. Also, under the Koshi Corridor transmission line project, the Inaruwa-Tumlingtar section single circuit transmission line has been charged at 220 kV and brought into operation. The length of the transmission line is 105 kilometers.
Border pillars awaiting maintenance in Dang
The border pillars placed to separate the border line between Nepal and India are in a dilapidated condition in Dang district. One of them was swept away six years ago while others from the eastern Arna border to the western Bhauwa border in the district have been damaged and are awaiting maintenance. There is a provision that the even-numbered pillars should be repaired by India and odd-numbered pillars by Nepal. But locals have complained that both sides have not given importance to repair the damaged pillars.

But many public officials are not found abiding by the principle of accountability in the course of performing their duties. Integrity, rule of law, moral-based decision-making and participation are other key values of good governance. When corruption thrives in any society, it leads to inequality, mass frustration, social divisions and a host of other problems. Bearing all this in view, the Constitution of Nepal, 2015 envisions the rule of law, transparency and accountability which are inalienable elements of good governance.
War Aggravates Global Climate
War brings death and destruction – not least to the environment and climate. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine offers a depressing reminder of that fact, and further increases the military sector’s already enormous global CO2 footprint. In addition, the eastern Ukrainian cities where fighting is taking place are home to fossil fuel infrastructure such as chemical factories, oil refineries, and coal mines, the bombing of which produces a cocktail of toxic substances that has devastating environmental impacts. Efforts to arm the two sides, moreover, are consuming materials and resources that could otherwise go towards tackling the climate crisis.
