Globally rising population coupled with fast expansion of concrete jungle has put nature in jeopardy. This effect is evidently seen in rare wildlife species like tiger. Amidst a fall in the number of the wild cats worldwide, Nepal has become an exception, achieving a new milestone. Recently, Nepal government conducted a census to count the existing number of tigers available within the country. And the results were astonishing. The country now accommodates a total of 355 tigers, a figure that has tripled since 2010. This is a clear indication that Nepal is the one and only tiger range country that has achieved the goal it pledged to meet 12 years ago. Wildlife conservationists around the globe are elated by this news and the government is beaming with joy and pride.
Every year, on the full moon day of the bright half of the Nepali month of Shrawan (better known as Janai Purnima), government officials of Jumla perform a special puja at the Badimalika Temple of Bajura. Accordingly, a team under Ek Raj Giri, non-gazetted first class officer (Nayab Subba) of the District Administration Office (DAO), and priest Bishnu Prasad Upadhyaya, left the district for Bajura on foot on Tuesday.
Boating service has been started in Budhi Lake of Buddhabhumi Municipality-4, Kapailvastu ,with assistance from Lumbini Provincial Ministry of Tourism, Rural and Urban Development to promote tourism. Minister for Tourism, Rural and Urban Development Rina Nepal and Mayor of the municipality Keshav Kumar Shrestha had jointly inaugurated the boating service. Roshan Prasad Tamrakar, engineer of the ministry, said that the ministry had invested a total of Rs. 2,696,000 for tourism development of Budhi Lake. A total of four boats have been operated, two motor-driven and two pedal-driven, costing Rs. 800,000.
Paddy plantation has reached about 86.3 per cent of the total paddy fields across the country as of Aug 1, 2022. According to the statistics of the Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, paddy plantation has been carried out only in 1.29 million hectares out of 1.5 million hectares of paddy fields.

Bhandari family from Dashghare Chowk of Kawasoti Municipality-5 has been practicing this rare occupation till date. Ishwori Prasad Bhandari and his wife have been spinning thread and making Janai (sacred thread with a religious and cultural significance) using hand spinning wheel in their free time.

Recently this writer had an opportunity to visit at least two community schools at the Daskshinkali Municipality at the outer fringe of the Kathmandu district. The school buildings and other infrastructures looked almost adequate and sufficient by our own standards. The schools had spacious and comfortable classrooms, computer laboratories, toilets and bathrooms, first aid and nursing service provision, midday meal support and so on which speak of the improving situation of wherewithal necessary for better learning outcomes.
Due to the lack of adequate employment opportunities in Nepal, millions of Nepalis are forced to go abroad every year. According to the recent data of the Fiscal Year 2078/79, more than 1,700 people go abroad daily for employment. Nepali workers can seek job opportunities in 111 countries through recruitment agencies and 178 countries on personal basis. Since FY 2050/51, the government has issued 7.5 million labour permits. Currently, the number of migrant workers in foreign countries stands at 3 million to 3.5 million. However, the national census 2078 B.S. preliminary report recorded 21,69,478 absentee populations in the country.

Many a time, these farmers have to throw their own lives in line to protect goats and other animals as well as farmed birds from the leopard. Dealing with the tiger is tougher.
