Kathmandu, Nov. 12: Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhu Ram Sharma Friday made an inspection visit to Khotang in Province 1 and inquired about security arrangements made for the elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly slated for November 20.
On the occasion, the Army Chief visited Diktel-based Gorakhnath Battalion of Khotang.
According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Army Headquarters, CoAS Sharma obtained information about various aspects, including the implementation of the integrated security plan in the upcoming elections.
Addressing a gathering of the army personnel, the CoAS instructed the Nepali Army to carry out the responsibilities related to election security received from the government in an excellent manner.
During the visit, Commander-in-Chief Sharma also interacted with the Chief District Officer of Khotang and the heads of other security agencies in the district.
Meanwhile, the Army Chief inspected Sri Nepali Army War College located at Nagarkot of Bhaktapur district, and obtained information about various aspects including the facts of the college and gave necessary instructions.
At the same time, General Sharma unveiled a life-size statue of national unifier Prithvi Narayan Shah and inaugurated the Unity Garden, Bhangeri Green and Bhangeri Mahan, built within the College premises.
Similarly, Army Chief Sharma released the 11th edition of the Infantry Journal prepared by the War College.
