By Bhaktibilash Pokharel, Gaighat, April 13: A motorcyclist got killed after being hit by a tipper truck along the Madan Bhandari Highway at Rajabas, of Triuga Municipality-9, Udayapur, police said.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 9:30 am on Monday when a motorcycle (Sa 10 Pa 4717), which was travelling from Jhilketol towards Rajabas in Triyuga Municipality-9, was struck by a tipper truck (Ba 5 Kha 617) coming from the opposite direction.
The motorcyclist, identified as 35-year-old Hari Danuwar, of Dandatol, of Triyuga Municipality-9, sustained serious injuries in the collision.
He was immediately rushed to the District Hospital, Udayapur, for treatment, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival at around 9:50 am, according to Superintendent of Police Rajan Chapagain of the District Police Office, Udayapur.
Police said that a team led by Police Inspector Bipesh Kumar Dev was deployed from the District Police Office soon after the incident to carry out rescue operations and initiate the necessary legal procedures.
The tipper driver, 28-year-old Ashish Majhi, a resident of Hokse, of Triyuga Municipality-7, has been taken into custody along with the vehicle.
Police said further investigation into the accident is underway.
