blog

Chitwan, April 2: Search for nests of Ghariyal crocodiles in the Rapti River has begun.

The Chitwan National Park (CNP) usually searches for nests of Ghariyal crocodiles in the river during Nepali months, Chaitra and Baisakh every year.

According to Information Officer at CNP Abinash Thapa Magar, search for nests of the Ghariyal species that began since March 15 would continue up to coming April 23.

For the purpose, two people from Bote community have been mobilized, he said.

After completing nest searching, the task of collecting crocodile eggs would commence by mobilizing the national park employees, Information Officer Magar added.

He went on sharing that the eggs collected from the nests would be taken to the crocodile breeding centre at the office for hatching process.

Though CNP had been carrying out search for crocodile nests in the Rapti and Narayani River in earlier years, it is being done only in the Rapti River this year. (RSS)
