By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 1: Police have arrested 16 individuals for allegedly obstructing public service delivery and causing unnecessary hardship to service seekers by interfering with the renewal of vehicle registration books (bill books) at various transport offices in Kathmandu.
According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, the arrests were made on the basis of information received on Tuesday.
During the operation, the police team also seized Rs 122,000 in cash and 53 bill books from 16 detained.
Police said the individuals were involved in activities that disrupted the renewal process of vehicle registration documents, affecting the smooth delivery of public services.
District Police Range Kathmandu spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai stated that the necessary investigation is currently underway.
Among those arrested by the Swayambhu Police Circle are 36-year-old Bal Bahadur Sunar, 39-year-old Bigyan Rai, 31-year-old Sanjay Rajbahak, 36-year-old Bimal Tamang, 35-year-old Ramesh Karki, 60-year-old Suman Prasad Shrestha, 39-year-old Uddhav Khanal, and 36-year-old Kalpana Lamsal.
Similarly, those arrested by the Thankot Police Circle include 25-year-old Pasang Tamang, 30-year-old Shunil Lama, 23-year-old Sudip Magar, 20-year-old Buddha Tamang, 26-year-old Sumesh Nepali, 24-year-old Aman Tamang, 18-year-old Ujjwal Singh, and 26-year-old Dilip Rai.
Police said further investigation is in progress and that the accused will be brought under the scope of legal action in accordance with the law.
