Kathmandu, Mar. 30: Gorkhapatra Corporation’s General Manager Lal Bahadur Airi completed his four-year term on Monday. He was bid farewell by organising separate programmes in the corporation.
Editors and journalists of Gorkhapatra Daily and The Rising Nepal Daily jointly organised a farewell programme, while Gorkhapatra administration held a similar event in his honour.
Airi was the first general manager of the Sansthan to be formally bid farewell by the two dailies in recognition of his impressive performance in the last six months of his tennure as executive head of the oldest publication house. He was appointed General Manager of the Corporation on March 31, 2022, and was given executive authority on September 28, 2025.
He was accorded a respectful send-off at both ceremonies.

At both programmes, Acting Editor-in-Chief of Gorkhapatra Daily, Junar Babu Basnet, Acting Editor-in-Chief of The Rising Nepal, Bishnu Prasad Gautam, and Acting Director of the Administration Department, Om Prakash Bhusal, Director of Gorkhapatra Academy Kedar Bhattarai, and others commended Airi’s work in support of journalists and employees.
Airi played a significant role in resuming the staff recruitment process and supporting the career development of staff, which had been stalled for over eight years. He also established the Gorkhapatra Academy and successfully led the ‘Gorkhapatra Discourse’ organised on the occasion of the 61st year of the publication of The Rising Nepal in December last year. It was the first mega event hosted by the corporation in its history.
He was presented with token of loves on the occasion. Speaking at the programmes, Airi said that Gorkhapatra Corporation needs to be made relevant to changing times. Recalling his work over the past six months, he stated that he would continue to play an active role for the corporation wherever he may be.
He expressed happiness at being able to complete long-pending tasks at the corporation.
He added that Gorkhapatra Academy was his vision and that its establishment was an achievement for the institution.
