Education Minister takes charge of office

Kathmandu, March 27: The newly appointed Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Youth and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, has assumed office today at the ministry in Singha Durbar.

On the occasion, Minister Pokharel stated that they are extremely 'sensitive' to the votes received from the people and said they would work with the goal of fulfilling the commitments made by the party within the next five years.

He mentioned that he has taken the trust of the voters as a responsibility. "We have understood the votes we received not merely as support, but as a responsibility," he said.

Minister Pokharel stated that there are plans to expand the successful programmes implemented in Kathmandu Metropolitan City to the national level in the context of education sector reforms.

He mentioned that priority will be given to enhancing teacher capacity, improving school infrastructure, implementing result-oriented programmes, and making scholarships transparent and systematic.

Minister Pokharel also expressed commitment to making Nepal's education and sports sectors competitive, organised and results-oriented, keeping in mind modern technology and global changes. (RSS)
