By Bom Lal Giri, Nawalpur, March 21: The Daunne section of the Narayanghat-Butwal stretch along the East–West Highway has been severely disrupted due to continuous rainfall since Friday afternoon.

According to the District Police Office, persistent rain has made the road extremely slippery and muddy, leading to a complete obstruction of traffic since Friday.

Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Yubaraj Khadka said that although the road occasionally reopens for short periods, it becomes blocked again, resulting in long traffic jams and significant challenges in vehicle management.

Police reported that the situation is particularly critical near Paisatthimode and Bishwakarma Temple areas.

Vehicles have been struggling to climb uphill sections due to the muddy road conditions, often getting stuck midway.

In response to the deteriorating road condition, authorities have imposed a nighttime restriction on the movement of heavy and cargo vehicles. The road project office issued a notice on Friday stating that such vehicles will not be allowed to operate at night from March 20 to 22.

SP Khadka also noted that the situation has worsened as drivers attempt to overtake recklessly on difficult road sections.

Earlier, rainfall about a week ago had already limited traffic movement in the area to one-way operation for two days.

Meanwhile, continuous rainfall has also affected the Daunne-Dhumkibas road section, where slippery conditions at multiple locations have further disrupted vehicular movement.

Police have urged the public to travel only after obtaining necessary updates or to use alternative routes where possible.
