By Kedar Timilsina, Banepa, March 21: The BP Highway, which was obstructed due to rainfall, resumed operation on Saturday morning.
According to the District Police Office, Kavrepalanchok, the highway which was blocked at around 3:30 AM and came back into operation from 9:30 AM.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabin Bista said that vehicular movement resumed after the water level in the Roshi River subsided and repair work was carried out in flood-affected sections of the road. Following the repairs, both small and large vehicles have been operating smoothly along the highway.
Police have urged travelers to remain cautious, as adverse weather conditions still persist.
The highway had been completely blocked on Friday evening in areas including Charsayabesi, Gimdi, Daunne, and Kalidhunga due to heavy rainfall.
Last year’s floods had damaged a 28-kilometer stretch of the highway from Bhakunde to Nepal Thok.
Reconstruction work on the affected sections is currently underway. At present, vehicles are being operated through a temporary diversion built from Chaukidanda to Nepal Thok along the Roshi River.
Police have warned that due to these temporary arrangements, the highway remains vulnerable to disruptions even during moderate rainfall.
