Siraha, March 19: 'Hattidaha Onestay' has come into operation for promoting local tourism in Lahan Municipality-15, Hattidaha.
The concept of 'Onestay' which is similar to the idea of 'Homestay' aims to provide tourists with an opportunity to experience local art and culture along with natural ambience.
Previously, the Koiralokhola Model Forest Users Group had been developing the Hattidaha wetland area within the community forest as a touristic destination.
The 'Onestay' was established and put into operation within the same area.
The Onestay was constructed with financial assistance by Jersey Overseas Aid, in collaboration with CARE Nepal, the Federation of Community Forest Users Nepal (FECOFUN), and the National Farmers Group Federation (NFGF) through a jointly implemented conservation project.
“We have launched Onestay with the aim of linking local people to income generation through tourism while conserving forests and wetland areas,” said Rudra Narayan Chaudhary, chairperson of the users group.
According to him, services began in the first phase with a two-room guest house, and the Onestay premises have been developed into an attractive site with a training hall, picnic area, boating facilities in the wetland, a recreation park for children, a zoo, and selfie spots. (RSS)
