Husband-wife dies when truck hits bullock cart

By Abinash Chaudhary, Dhangadhi, March 19: A couple died after being hit by a truck along the Postal Highway in Kailali on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at Baijpur in Kailari Rural Municipality-5 when a truck (Na 6 Kha 778) struck a bullock cart.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Kaleshu Chaudhary, aged 60, and his wife Sitarani Chaudhary, aged 70, of the same locality.

Police said that both sustained serious injuries to the head and face and were taken to Seti Provincial Hospital for treatment. D

Doctors declared Sitarani dead upon arrival, while Kalesu died during treatment.

The collision also killed one ox pulling the cart, while another was injured.

Spokesperson of the District Police Office Kailali, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yogendra Timilsina, said that the truck driver, Ruben Thapa Magar, aged 33, of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, has been taken into custody along with the vehicle.
