Team formed to control possible forest fires in Arghakhanchi

Arghakhanchi, March 16: The Division Forest Office in Arghakhanchi has conducted different programmes including awareness raising at the community level for risk reduction of forest fires. 

Information Officer of the Division Forest Office, Keshar Khadka, said that a special team of fire extinguishers was formed to control forest fires and effectively run the risk reduction events.

To be led by the Division Forest Office, the taskforce comprises 12 members. The taskforce is provided with fire extinguishers and mini brigades.     

According to Khadka, the team would be mobilized until the last of May and the team members would also carry out regular surveillances in the fire-prone zones. 

Likewise, the Office conducted an interaction programmes among the stakeholders including the local level representatives, security personnel, community forests users' groups and others. 

The interaction programme was primarily focused on causes of the forest fires and the effective measures for its control.  

Furthermore, the Office has unveiled a new digital system to collect and share data and information on forest fires in the district.(RSS)
