Oncologists from Nepal and India share experience in cancer treatment

Ranjha (Banke), March 14: Oncologists from Nepal and India shared their experiences of treating cancer using new technology.     

Max Super Speciality Hospital in Lucknow, India, organised an educational programme on cancer treatment, exchange of new technology and experiences in collaboration with Nepal Medical Association (NMA) Bheri Chapter in Nepalgunj.     

The continuing medical education (CME) programme titled 'Recent Updates in Oncology' was concluded on Friday.     

At the programme, experts presented on the identification of cancer, surgery, and the latest advances in modern treatment methods.     

At the event, Dr Shashwat Verma, Director of Nuclear Medicine at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, gave a presentation on 'PET-CT as a Precision Tool in Patient Care', stating that advanced imaging technology plays a crucial role in the early detection of cancer and accurately determining which stage the cancer is.     

Dr Rahul Yadav, Director of Urology, Kidney Transplant and Robotic Uro-Oncology at the same hospital, while presenting on 'Robotics in Urology and Uro-Oncology: Our Experience', explained that robotic-assisted surgery in patients with complex urological cancers has made treatment safer and more effective.     

In the next session of the programme, Dr Shashank Chaudhary, Principal Consultant at Max Super Speciality Hospital and an expert in Surgical Oncology and Robotic Surgery, spoke on 'The Role of Robotic Surgery in Cancer Treatment', explaining that minimally invasive surgery helps patients recover more quickly.     

At the programme, Dr Mukesh Yadav, Head of the Clinical Oncology Department at Sushil Koirala Prakhar Cancer Hospital in Khajura, Banke, gave a presentation on 'The Role of Radiotherapy in Cancer Care' and discussed the importance of modern radiation therapy (radiotherapy) in the treatment of various types of cancer.     

Lucknow is about two and a half hours drive from Nepalgunj, making it convenient for patients from western Nepal to receive treatment there, according to doctors. It has been reported that Max Super Speciality Hospital Lucknow has been providing comprehensive cancer treatment services under one roof.(RSS)
