blog

Trishuli (Nuwakot), March 13: With the obstruction of the locals, disposal of Kathmandu Valley waste has been halted at Bancharedanda.

Residents of Bancharedanda area did not allow the disposal of waste taking up the non-implementation of past agreements with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Urban Development.

Local resident Niranjan Sanjel informed RSS that trucks carrying waste from Kathmandu were sent back stating they would not allow waste disposal until past agreements were implemented.

He said, "We have suffered repeatedly due to non-execution of agreements. The obstruction will continue until our demands are met."

Earlier, Minister for Urban Development Kulman Ghising had committed to implementing past agreements, after which the obstruction to waste disposal was removed.

The affected residents of Kakani Rural Municipality wards 1, 2, and 3 in Nuwakot and Dhunbesi Municipality wards 1, 3, and 4 in Dhading have stopped vehicles carrying garbage on the border road between the two districts from reaching their destinations.

Local representatives and party leaders from Kakani, Belkotgadhi, and Dhunbesi have also supported them. (RSS)
