House of Representatives Election: Voting commences

Kathmandu, March 5: The voting process for the House of Representatives (HoR) member election has commenced nationwide today. Officiating Chief Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari informed the RSS that, in accordance with the established election timetable, voting began at 7:00 a.m. this morning. 

Voting is being conducted in all 77 districts across the country in a single phase, running from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

A total of 65 political parties are vying for 61 electoral symbols. In the first-past-the-post system, there are 3,017 male candidates, 388 female candidates, and 1 other, making a total of 3,406 candidates in the electoral race. 

Meanwhile, under the proportional representation system, 3,135 candidates are contesting, which includes 1,363 men and 1,772 women. (RSS)
