Kathmandu, Feb 24: A CPN UML leader Ishwor Pokharel, who is contesting the March 5 House of Representatives election from constituency no-5 of Kathmandu, has prioritized construction of Tokha-Chhahare tunnel way.
In his resolution paper made public recently, leader Pokharel forwarded the plan to conduct an archaeological and cultural study of Handigaon, Kathmandu and develop it as the destination of cultural tourism.
The Budhanilakantha Temple will be promoted as an international religious tourism destination, while a foot trail will be established from Budhanilakanth to Gosaikunda via Bagdwar and Chisapani. Homestay facilities will be arranged in the Tamang community.
Chaku, an indigenous Newari confectionary, produced in Tokha, Kathmandu would be levered to international market, leader Pokharel stated in the resolution paper, adding that preservation of Tamang and Newari languages and their cultures and pageants were other priorities.
The sewage and waste management, smooth public transportation, park construction in Budhanilakantha and Tokha area also incorporated in the commitment paper. (RSS)
