blog

Bhojpur, Feb 17: The Division Forest Office in Bhojpur has started different measures including awareness raising campaigns and assistance materials handover to the local communities for the control and prevention of possible wildfires in the district.

The chances of wildfires remain high with the rise in temperature and the beginning of the dry season in the district.

The Office has conducted its activities in the high-risk zones in the district. Dozens of forest areas are at high risk of wildfires in all nine local levels in Bhojpur.

Human activities near the forest areas, dry grass and wood, and the hot season are described as the main reasons behind the forest fires in Nepal's context.

Chief of Bhojpur Division Forest Office Khudrus Miya said that the district disaster risk reduction committee was handed over 216 items for the reduction of wildfire risks.

The Office has conducted awareness raising programmes, distributed fire extinguishers and also expedited regular surveillance to control the possible outbreak of wildfires. (RSS)
