blog

Bhojpur, Feb 16: The farmers in Bhojpur district are worried due to drought for long in this winter season. They shared that their winter crops including wheat, barley, potato and mustard farms started drying up due to long drought.

Beni Bahadur Bista of Bhojpur Municipality-5 stated that it has become tough for the farmers to protect the winter crops as there was no rain in this season. “The crops have started drying up due to the lack of rain,” Bista bemoaned.

He stated that further damage to the winter crops could happen if it doesn't rain soon.

The farmers in this hilly district have suffered due to the lack of adequate irrigation supply for farming.

As the rivers and rivulets are drying up and the level of groundwater has receded, which has caused difficulties to farmers to ensure irrigation supply in the farms.

Production of the winter crops could decline this year, the farmers have said.

The officials of the Agriculture Knowledge Centre in the district have shared that the impacts of drought were visible in the district. The farmers have been advised to apply alternative irrigation systems if possible. (RSS)
