By Santosh Subedi, Dhankuta, Jan 5: A thatched house has been gutted down after a fire broke out in Chharagaun Barabote, Dhankuta Municipality–4, Dhankuta, around 9:40 AM on Thursday.
Fire spread rapidly, burning the house to the ground.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)Gyan Kumar Mahato of the District Police Office, Dhankuta, the fire started suddenly while animal feed was being cooked in a cowshed belonging to a resident, Lok Bahadur Shrestha, and flames then spread to a single-storey thatched house made of tin sheets, stones, and mud.
The house was completely burned down following the incident.
The fire was brought under control after about an hour with the combined efforts of two fire engines from Dhankuta Municipality, municipal police, Armed Police Force personnel, and residents, police said.
The District Police Office, Dhankuta, said that detailed information regarding the fire-induced damage is yet to be received.
