Duduwa stands first in district health indicators

BY SIRAJ KHAN,Nepalgunj, Jan. 9: Duduwa Rural Municipality of Banke has secured first place in the district in terms of health programme performance indicators. 

According to the District Health Office, Banke, the rural municipality got 90 points out of 100 based on 32 indicators, along with an additional 10 points awarded by the District Health Office, achieving an overall score of 79.36 per cent to rank first in the district.

Janaki Rural Municipality ranked second with a score of 75.21 per cent, while Khajura Rural Municipality secured third place with 71.97 per cent.

According to the District Health Office, Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality ranked fourth, Narainapur Rural Municipality fifth, Baijanath Rural Municipality sixth, Kohalpur Municipality seventh, and Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City eighth.

Public Health Officer at the District Health Office, Banke, Naresh Shrestha, said the evaluation was carried out based on indicators including immunisation, family planning, safe motherhood, TB and tuberculosis control, nutrition assessment, good governance, and other health-related parameters.

He said that based on these indicators, the performance of Duduwa, Janaki, and Khajura rural municipalities was found to be excellent, and suggested that other local governments further improve their performance.

Additionally, health section chiefs of the top-performing local levels, Sitaram Chaudhary of Duduwa Rural Municipality, Dal Bahadur Rana of Janaki Rural Municipality, and Laxmi Oli of Khajura Rural Municipality, were honoured during a public health programmes review and action plan workshop for the first four-month period of the fiscal year 2026/27, organised by the District Health Office, Banke, in Nepalgunj.
