By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 15: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) recorded a double-digit decline on Sunday, the first trading day of the week, extending its recent downward trend.
The benchmark NEPSE index dropped by 12.50 points to settle at 2,594.87 points, following a marginal fall of 1.66 points in the previous trading session on Thursday.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also decreased by 0.79 points to close at 445.50 points.
The sub-indices of all groups, except banking and mutual fund, decreased in today's transaction.
Sub-index of the life insurance group saw the highest fall of 115.65 points followed by the hotels and tourism and manufacturing and processing group whose indices decreased by 61.52 points and 59.22 points respectively.
Similarly, sub-index of non-life insurance group decreased by 36.45 points, hydropower by 31.38 points, trading by 22.58 points, development bank by 18.59 points, finance by 16.57 points, microfinance by 12.68 points, others by 10.67 points and investment by 0.63 points.
However, the sub-index of banking group posted a marginal growth of 0.64 points and mutual fund by 0.10 points.
A total of 11,272,168 shares worth Rs. 4 billion of 330 companies were sold in 60,699 transactions today. The share price of 225 companies decreased while the share price of 87 companies increased in today’s transaction.
On Sunday, share price of City Hotel decreased by 6.26 per cent, Shreenagar Agritech Industries by 4.65 per cent, Laxmi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha by 4.55 per cent and Aarambha Chautari Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha by 4.34 per cent.
However, share price of Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha increased by 10 per cent while the share price of SY Panel Nepal increased by 9.99 per cent.
Similarly, the share price of NMB Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha increased by 5.19 per cent and Upper Syange Hydropower by 4.7 per cent.
