Initiatives to include Budhanilkantha in World Heritage Sites list

Kathmandu, Dec 4: Budhanilkantha Municipality of Kathmandu has been making efforts to include the Budhanilkantha Temple, a religious and tourist destination, in the World Heritage Sites list.     

Mayor Mitharam Adhikari stated that efforts have been made to include Budhanilkantha shrine in the UNESCO World Heritage List.     

Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the 12th establishment day of the municipality, the Mayor said that discussions on the matter had taken place in various stages with the relevant bodies and parties of the Government of Nepal.     

He stated that the municipality has become active in reclaiming the expropriated public land.     

Mayor Adhikari stated that education, health, infrastructure and sports were prioritised, and the education sector budget was increased to 130 million rupees, with day meals provided to students up to grade 10.     

The municipality has been awarding a community school that brings 4 GPA with Rs 500 thousand and students with Rs 100 thousand.     

The municipality has been treating more than 300 patients daily at the Municipal Hospital.     

On the occasion of the Founding Day, Bagmati Province's Minister for Labour, Employment and Transport, Jayram Thapa, expressed appreciation for the works carried out by the Budhanilkantha Municipality in development, good governance and service delivery.     

Deputy Mayor Anita Lama said that the Municipality's people's representatives and all the staff have been working better to make the services received by the people result-oriented.(RSS)
