By Sher Bahadur Sarki,Bajura, Dec. 3: A massive fire has broken out in a garage located in Martadi, district headquarters of Bajura.

According to authorities, the fire erupted at around 12 noon today at Prakash Thapa’s grill and furniture factory and garage in Martadi due to an electrical short circuit.

The District Police Office, Bajura, reported that the fire caused property damage amounting to more than Rs. 20 million.

Although fires have occurred in various locations of the district in the past, Bajura still does not have a single fire brigade to control such incidents.

Laxmiraj Joshi, Information Officer at the District Police Office, said it was extremely difficult to bring the fire under control due to the absence of a fire engine. He said, “With the efforts of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and local residents, the fire was brought under control within two hours. Many houses were at risk when the fire broke out, but timely intervention helped prevent further damage.”

The fire destroyed grills, furniture and all items stored inside the garage. Despite the significant property loss, no human casualties were reported, Joshi added.
