Nepal welcomes over 116,000 tourists in November

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 3: Nepal welcomed more than 116,000 foreign tourists in November 2025. 

According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 116,553 tourists entered Nepal in November this year. This figure is 1.8 per cent higher than the tourist arrivals recorded during the same month in 2024. 

However, it represents only 89.4 per cent recovery compared to November 2019. 

A total of 114,496 tourists had arrived in November 2024, while 130,302 tourists visited the country in the same month of 2019.

Meanwhile, 1,060,269 tourists visited Nepal in the first 11 months of 2025, from January to November. 

The highest monthly arrivals this year were recorded in October, with 128,443 tourists entering the country.

Earlier in 2025, tourist arrivals stood at 121,687 in March and 116,490 in April. Likewise, 79,991 tourists entered in January, 96,880 in February, 86,216 in May, 76,425 in June, 70,193 in July, 88,680 in August, and 78,711 in September. 

Top 10 tourist-generating markets

India remained the largest source of tourists in November, with 18,995 visitors. The United States followed with 11,254 arrivals, and China with 7,871 visitors, according to the NTB.

Likewise, 7,189 tourists arrived from the UK, 5,653 from Bangladesh, 5,393 from Australia, and 4,831 from Sri Lanka.

In addition, 4,484 visitors came from Myanmar, 4,211 from France, and 4,134 from Germany.

In terms of share, India accounted for 16.3 per cent of total arrivals in November, followed by the USA at 9.65 per cent, China at 6.75 per cent, the UK at 6.16 per cent, and Bangladesh at 4.85 per cent.

Australia contributed 4.62 per cent, Sri Lanka 4.14 per cent, Myanmar 3.84 per cent, France 3.61 per cent, and Germany 3.54 per cent to the total arrivals.

Of the total tourist arrival, share of tourists from South Asia (SAARC) stood at 26.5 per cent (30,870 people), Europe at 24.9 per cent (29,018 people), Asia (others) at 24.5 per cent (28,613 people), Americas at 11.7  per cent (13,678 people), Oceania at 5.1 per cent (5,891 people), Middle East at 1.5 per cent (1,802 people), Africa at 0.4 per cent (412 people) and others at 5.4 per cent (6,209  people) in the review month.
