Communication Minister stresses over preservation of birthplace of Araniko

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 1: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has stressed the need to publicize the birthplace of the national hero, Araniko, who has made a significant contribution to taking Nepal to a higher place.

Communications Minister urged to let the word out about  Kanibahal of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-6, Lalitpur district, which carries the historical legacy of being the birthplace of Araniko, after visiting the place.

He inspected Rudrabarna Mahabihar, located at Okubahal and the birthplace of Araniko, after visiting the ward office located at Kanibahal.

Minister for Communications Kharel said that the heritage areas need to be promoted and their importance highlighted at the national and international levels, thereby attracting tourists.

He said, "The contribution of national icon Araniko to the promotion of sculpture, reaching as far as China, is unparalleled. We are rich in culture and heritage. We should pay attention to the preservation and promotion of the extremely important heritage that has been created through the wise work of our ancestors."

 Saying that the ward is a place that provides daily services to denizens effectively, he said that the federal minister also needs to cooperate and collaborate with ward chairs and ward offices.

  Ward Chairman of Lalitpur Metropolitan City -6 Rupendra Raj Shakya said that there is difficulty in getting a budget for the ward from the federal government and requested facilitation.

He also urged the Minister of Communications to provide funds for the protection of heritage.

Ward chair Shakya said that Araniko was born in this ward, mentioning that Ward 6 is a hub for metal and sculpture industries and trade.
