'Industry-friendly policy imperative'

Sudurpaschim, Nov 26: Stakeholders at a programme have underlined the need for adopting a relevant and timely policy to promote industrial atmosphere in the country. 

At a programme organized on the occasion of the 11th Industry Day on Tuesday, they viewed the policy friendly to industry would help bolster national economy. Peace and security are prerequisites to industry and entrepreneurship, they said, adding that procedural and administrative hassles must be removed.

Chairperson at District Office of Cottage and Small Industry in Kailali, Parbati Bhatt, argued the provisions of industrial laws in federal and provincial levels were contradictory, thereby hindering the enforcement of law at province. 

Even the regulation and work procedures were awaited to implement the industrial act at province, according to her.

Other speakers on the occasion viewed process for registering industries should be made easier.

The Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment in Sudurpaschim Province recorded the registration of 34,520 industries in the fiscal year, 2081/82. Most of these- 18,214- are related to service, while number of those related to agriculture and forest stands at 6,681 and production at 7,199 and tourism at 2048.

The number of employments proposed during the registration of industry is 208,844. (RSS)
