Kathmandu, Nov 23: The 470th edition of the monthly Sahitya Sandhya featured discussions on 'The Contribution of Senior Citizens in Progressive Nepali Literature' and 'The Use of AI in Literature,' alongside a special poetry recitation.
In the virtual event, Prof Dr Mukesh Chalise emphasized that viewing senior citizens as outdated, unproductive, and dismissing past values is not a progressive mindset.
He highlighted the contributions of notable literary figures such as Gokul Joshi, Hriday Chandra Singh Pradhan, Gopal Prasad Rimal, Yuddha Prasad Mishra, Shyam Prasad Sharma, Shantadas, Kevalpure Kisan, and Netralal Abhagi, who played significant roles in social transformation through their philosophical insights.
During the discussion on 'Use of AI in Literature,' journalist Ajay Sharma noted that while AI can recall lengthy narratives and mimic styles, it lacks the ability to produce works that match the creativity of human writers.
The programme also featured literary recitations from Dambar Pahadi, Bindu Adhikari Dhakal, Dr Krishna Suvedi, Maheshraj Kharel, Dr Rajendra Prasad Adhikari, Krishna Bause, Jayanti Spandan, Ramchandra Dahal, Kumar Nepal, Om Prasad Koirala, Gopal Kumar Mainali, Dr Ramhari Lamsal, Durga Prasad Adhikari Bharmarkote, and Trilochan Joshi.
