By Toplal Aryal,Resunga, Nov. 15: Thaple and Satyawati, the tallest peaks in Lumbini Province, have emerged as key destinations for international tourists. At present, the sacred touristic site of Satyawati is bustling with American tourists.

Satyawati area is listed among the Nepal government’s 100 new tourism sites. It has gained popularity as a religious site where devotees shout their wishes to seek blessings, making it a significant religious centre of the Badigad region.

From the Satyawati area, breathtaking views of the northern mountains can be observed.

Jit Bahadur Taramu, Ward Chairman of Satyawati Rural Municipality-3, said that locals of Thulolumpek welcome American tourists by showcasing local art and culture, including Panchebaja and Sorathi dances.

Every year, visitors from countries such as the UK, Germany, Norway, and the US come to explore the area during their holidays. “Last year, even Hollywood producers visited Satyawati,” Taramu added.

The Satyawati region is rich in religious and cultural heritage sites and shrines, offering great potential for tourism development. It was officially declared a destination to be developed and promoted by the Government of Nepal on November 1, 2018.

Satyawati Rural Municipality is home to diverse art, culture, lifestyles, scenery, waterfalls, and the birthplace of world-famous Gorkha warriors who earned the Victoria Cross—reflecting the spirit of Nepal as a whole.

Khoma Taramu, a leader from Thulo Lumpek in Satyawati Rural Municipality-3, said that folk cultural heritage such as Jhumarani, Jivaimamai, Thulonach Sorathi, Kaura, Salaijo, and Jhyaure are rooted in ancient Magar traditions.

From this region, one can also enjoy stunning views of the Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Annapurna mountain ranges.

The Satyawati region also features important heritage sites, including Thaple, Masina Daha, Hilesi Siddhababa, Lumpeki Thani, Hachinkot Durbar, Lamathudi Waterfall, and Alam Than, among others, Taramu said.

Satyawati, predominantly inhabited by the Magar Community, is renowned for its native agricultural produce and organic Magar cuisine.
