Health Minister unveils Urgent Health Sector Reform Action Plan

Kathmandu, Nov 14: Minister for Health and Population, Dr Sudha Gautam, has introduced 'Urgent Health Sector Reform Action Plan' to speed up ministry's service delivery.     

Spokesperson of the Health Ministry, Dr Prakash Budhathoki, said Minister Dr Gautam brought the action plan in order to speed up ministry's service deliver within one or two months.     

Dr Budhathoki added that the Urgent Health Sector Reform Action Plan included provisions related to treatment and psychosocial counselling to Gen Z protest injured people, special campaign targeting infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate, good governance and service delivery, health improvement of migrant workers going for abroad employment.     

The Action Plan mentions that a special programme would be launched for two months at the provinces and local levels where the infant and maternal mortality rate is high, for the coordination and collaboration of three tiers of the government to prevent and reduce infant and maternity mortality rate as well as for the operation of psychosocial counselling service to Gen Z protest injured people from all federal hospitals.     

The action plan has also incorporated the plan of operating OPD service in two shifts making services of federal hospitals and Health Sciences Institutes citizen-friendly within two months as well as approving Organisation & Management of Health Insurance Board and quota through fast track for the effective implementation of health insurance programme, shared the Spokesperson.     

Similarly, an orientation programme related to labour health safety would be operated from health desk of Tribhuvan International Airport for the health care of Nepali citizens going for foreign employment.(RSS)
