By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov. 13: Nepal Electricity
Authority (NEA) has collected a sum of Rs. 238 million 772 thousand as instalment
of tariff dues from 35 companies.
NEA has to collect a sum of Rs. 5 billion 945
million from these 35 companies as the premium tariff dues for using
electricity through dedicated and trunk lines during the load-shedding period from
2015 to 2018.
Kulman Ghising, Minister for Energy, Water Resource
and Irrigation, has thanked the industries for starting to pay the arrears as
the obligation to the state. NEA has provided a facility for the companies to
pay premium tariff dues in instalment.
Out of 35 companies, previously 10 were paying the
dues while 25 companies were defying it. As the 25 did not pay even a single
instalment, even those 10 which had started paying had stopped it.
Now, those 10 have given continuity to pay tariff dues
while remaining 25 have also paid their first instalment.
NEA had disconnected electricity to companies not
paying instalment, and now electricity has been provided to them as they have paid
the instalment.
