Security tightened at Jamunaha border point following car explosion in India

By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Nov.13: Indian security agencies have issued a high alert and tightened checks at the Nepal-India border, following the car bomb explosion in Delhi, India.

The Indian security agency, Sashastra Seema Bal, said that every Nepali and Indian citizen traveling through the Jamunaha border crossing here is questioned and allowed to travel only after checking their identity cards.

Commandant of the 42nd Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Ganga Singh Udawat said that vehicles moving through the border are also being strictly monitored and are only allowed to move after being checked by trained dogs.

He said that since the Nepalgunj border crossing between Nepal and India is also considered very sensitive, checks have been increased at this border crossing and police and SSB teams are continuously patrolling rural areas as well.

According to the Chief of the Indian Police Station in Rupaidiha, India, Ramesh Singh Rawat, movement is allowed only after thorough questioning and strict checks of every person moving through this border crossing.

He said that patrolling have been increased accordingly as the central government (India) has issued instructions to strictly monitor and control all border crossings and movement.

A car bomb explosion in front of the Red Fort in the Indian capital Delhi killed 13 people and injured more than 40. 

Following the incident, India has announced that it has put all its border crossings on high alert and tightened security.
