Kathmandu, Nov 12: Gokarneshwor Municipality's health service has been adjudged the best among the 11 local levels in Kathmandu district.
This is based on the annual review of the health programs implemented in the last fiscal year 2080/81. The review was done by District Public Health Office, Kathmandu.
The District Public Health Office has stated that the municipality has achieved the top position based on the evaluation of the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of health services.
Gokarneshwor Municipality, which has been declared a Yoga City, currently has 45 regular yoga centers operating in all 9 wards. Gokarneshwor Municipal Hospital provides free health services to citizens permanently residing in the municipality, and discounts on treatment have also been arranged from Nepal Medical College, Nepal Orthopedic Hospital and Shankarapur Hospital, said Hari Prasad Upadhyay, Chief of the Health Unit of the Municipality.
Based on the results prepared after an in-depth evaluation of the health programs implemented in the last fiscal year, Shankarapur Municipality came second and Tokha Municipality came third, according to the District Public Health Office.
Gokarneshwor had also come first in the annual review of the fiscal year 2079/80.(RSS)
