Myagdi, Nov 1: The Beni-Darbang road connecting three local levels of Western Myagdi with district headquarters has been obstructed for the past three days.
Direct transportation from Mangala, Malika and Dhaulagiri Rural Municipalities to the headquarters, Beni Bazaar, has been cut off since last Thursday following landslide at Faparkhet (Ghumaune) along the border of Beni Municipality-4 and Mangala Rural Municipality-2.
With the road disruption, locals are facing trouble reaching their destinations. The transportation of construction materials for hydroelectricity, roads, buildings, transmission lines and substation projects has been halted.
Likewise, there are issues in transporting daily consumptive goods and marketing agricultural and livestock products of rural areas.
Transport entrepreneur Yagya Bahadur Thapa said the landslide deposition on the road and continuous slide of boulders have increased risks in travel and transportation.
The task of removing the landslide debris with the mobilization of equipment is underway, informed the Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, which is implementing the Beni–Darbang road upgrading plan. (RSS)
