By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 6: The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided not to grant a public holiday on Monday in districts where there is no disaster situation.
The Ministry issued a circular to all district administration offices across the country on Sunday, instructing that regular government services must continue in areas not affected by disasters.
Joint Secretary Jay Narayan Acharya of the Ministry said, “The Chief District Officers assess the situation in their respective districts. If there is no monsoon disaster and or disaster vulnerability, government offices must provide services.”
He said that in all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley, as there is no disaster situation, government services will continue as usual.
Following heavy rainfall since Friday, the government had declared Sunday and Monday as holidays anticipating potential disasters.
However, with improving weather conditions from Sunday, Monday’s holiday has been cancelled.
