blog

By Our Correspondent,Butwal, Sept. 23: A book fair targeting Dashain and Tihar has begun in Butwal. The fair offers book lovers a special opportunity to purchase books at discounted prices during the festive season.

Bishal Pustak Sadan, located in Chandranagar, Ward No. 6 of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, is organising the Dashain -Tihar Book Fair from September 17 to   September 28.

The organisers said that visitors including book lovers, students, teachers, parents, and people from various sectors of society will receive discounts ranging from 10 per cent to 30 per cent.

The fair aims to promote a reading culture in society, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas, and expand access to books and libraries in every household.

The fair’s director, Dipendra Jaisi of Bishal Pustak Sadan, expressed disappointment that despite offering special discounts for the festival, the number of readers purchasing books has not increased.

He further added that the fair includes not only books on various subjects but also books needed for schools, colleges, government and non-government offices, financial institutions, hotels, restaurants, and hospitals.

Jaisi added that he has observed a decline in the number of people reading books. He also mentioned that there is very little interest from readers at the fair, highlighting a growing shortage of book readers.

The fair features books ranging from children’s and youth literature to subjects like philosophy, politics, history, health, science, and management.

According to director Jaisi, although visitors have come to the fair, few have actually purchased books.
