By Laxmi Chaudhary,Janakpurdham, Sept. 21: The Madhes provincial government has announced financial support of Rs. 250,000 to each family of those who lost their lives during the recent Gen Z movement.

The decision was taken at the provincial cabinet meeting on Friday. The meeting also paid tribute to the martyrs from Madhes who sacrificed their lives during the September 8 and 9 demonstrations.

The government has decided to provide the relief package as additional support to the bereaved families.

The meeting also extended wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the protests and directed the concerned authorities to ensure effective medical treatment.

At the same time, the cabinet decided that individuals involved in arson, vandalism and damage of both public and private property, reportedly caused by external infiltrators during the otherwise peaceful demonstrations, must be identified and subjected to legal action.

Clarifying its stance, the Madhes government stated that the demands raised by the Gen Z movement would be addressed within the framework of the existing Constitution.

The provincial government further offered tributes to the martyrs of the Gen Z protests, which had called for good governance and an end to corruption.
