By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 18: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kul Man Ghising has inspected the damaged structures in the Singha Durbar premises during the Gen-Z protests.
Minister Ghising, along with secretaries of both the Ministries of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development, inspected the main building of Singha Durbar and the Home Ministry on Tuesday and took information about the damage caused due to arson and vandalism during the protests.
According to the Minister Ghising's secretariat, he directed concerned authority to remove the burnt vehicles from the premises and manage elsewhere as they look ugly.
"The office should not be kept looking shabby. We will do the interior work, but the exterior part of the building should be kept neat. Damaged vehicles are scattered all over the Singha Durbar premises, looking ugly. They should be removed and managed immediately. This sends the message that we have risen from this situation," he said.
Minister Ghising said that the exterior of buildings with only minor damage will be painted to send a message that we have risen from the devastation, vehicles damaged by fire on the premises of ministries and offices will be immediately removed.
He said that reconstruction will begin by collecting support from the government, Nepalis at home and abroad through the 'Let's Build Our Own Structures' campaign.
He directed to immediately start assessing the damage of building and vehicles. The Ministry of Urban Development has already formed a task force to assess the damage to the structures.
