Janakpurdham, Sept 13: Public life in Dhanusha district, including Janakpur, the capital of Madhesh Province, is gradually returning to normalcy following recent Gen Z-led demonstrations.
The security situation has improved significantly. Shops that had remained closed have begun reopening, and public movement in market areas has increased. According to the priest of the Janaki Temple, the number of devotees visiting the temple has also risen. Both private and government-owned vehicles have resumed operation on major roads.
Government offices, including the District Administration Office (DAO) in Dhanusha and various provincial ministry buildings, have been cleaned up and are preparing to resume full operations. Security personnel have begun returning to posts that were vacated during the unrest.
The DAO, Dhanusha, has issued a public notice stating that all regular public services except those related to passport issuance and national ID cards will resume from Sunday. Offices have been instructed to collect and archive detailed reports of damages incurred during the protests.
Assistant Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dahal confirmed that services, aside from those directly linked to citizenship and national ID identity, will be fully operational starting Sunday. He also stated that security arrangements have been tightened to prevent any untoward incidents in public and private offices. Security forces including the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force have been deployed in public places.
The two-day Gen Z demonstrations on September 8–9 resulted in the vandalism and arson of over two dozen buildings, including government offices, public institutions, and political party headquarters.
Meanwhile, in Lalitpur, normalcy has also been restored following the lifting of the prohibitory order at 11:00 AM today. The Chief District Administration Office confirmed the resumption of regular services in the area. (RSS)
