Karnali Highway disrupted again

By Naurate Nepali, Sinja (Jumla), Aug.29: Various sections of the Karnali Highway have been blocked again due to landslides and road collapses.

The highway has been disrupted due to landslides and road collapses, causing traffic to come to a halt in various sections of Kalikot district, triggered by the incessant rainfall. 

The road has collapsed at Kalekhola, Smode, and Gagane Khola in Khandachakra Municipality-2 of Kaliko, along the Surkhet-Jumla road, disrupting traffic.

The road in Kalekhola has been washed away, while landslides have occurred in places including Gagane Khola and Smode. 

Chief of the District Police Office, Kalikot, Tek Bahadur Rawat, said that the highway has been blocked due to a landslide.

He said that there have been reports of landslides from Hulma to Dahikhola. 

Work is currently underway to remove the landslide debris.

Rains have caused frequent landslides in Dahi Khola, Gagane Khola, Smode, and Hulma in the Kalikot section of the Karnali Highway.
