Gautam appointed TRN Acting Editor-in-Chief

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug 10: Bishnu Prasad Gautam has been appointed Acting Editor-in-Chief of The Rising Nepal daily.

The management of the Gorkhapatra Corporation appointed him to the post effective from August 11, 2025. 

Hailing from Ilam, Gautam holds two Master’s Degrees - one in English Literature and the other in Nepali History, Culture and Archaeology - from Tribhuvan University. He has also passed B.L. from the same university. 

With a Diploma in Development Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, India, Gautam joined the English Daily as Assistant Editor in January 1997 and worked under various capacities. He mostly worked in the Features Department until he was assigned the job of Chief Reporter in August 2017. 

Earlier, on February 25 this year, he was appointed Managing Editor of the daily. 

Meanwhile, outgoing editor-in-chief of The Rising Nepal, Bhimsen Thapaliya, was bade farewell.

The Gorkhapatra Corporation management organised a formal farewell programme.
