blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 23: The number of people traveling to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar from Nepal has, of late, increased.

However, there has been a shortage of books to guide the aspiring pilgrims about the routes to the holy site.

Now Kailash Kora, a book published by Nepalaya, is there to inform the pilgrims. Rajendra Man Dangol has written the engaging and informative book.

“I have captured the reality and vivid imagery of the source of four major rivers Brahmaputra, Sutlej, Indus, and Karnali in Kailash Kora,” said author Dangol, according to a press statement issued by Nepalaya on Tuesday.

“With the aim of documenting the detailed account of the sacred pilgrimage site Kailash Mansarovar, revered by followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon, I undertook a two-week journey last year. The result is this book, Kailash Kora,” Dangol said.

Jyoti Adhikari, who has been organising planned trips to Kailash-Mansarovar from Nepal since 1992, said, “Respected figures in Nepali literature and music like Narayan Wagle and Amrit Gurung had already travelled to Kailash. Their experiences helped illuminate Kailash, and now Kailash Kora similarly highlights the spiritual and cultural significance of the journey.”

According to Adhikari, author Dangol has compiled not only words in the book but also poured in the depth his mind, soul, and emotions.

Author Dangol is an established name in travel writing. He has previously published three travel books. His essay Kanchanjunga Lai Niyalda is included in the Grade 9 Nepali curriculum in Nepal. Dangol has also been shortlisted for the Padmashree Literary Award.

The book contains 11 chapters, including maps of the various routes to Kailash.

The 158-page book is priced at Rs. 395.

Additionally, all books published by Nepalaya can be purchased worldwide via Amazon, and both physical and eBook versions are available through Thuprai.com.
