62% paddy plantation completes in Syangja

By Our Correspondent,Waling (Syangja), July 19: Paddy plantation has been done in 62 per cent of the paddy fields in Syangja by mid-July this year. 

Out of the 14,390 hectares of paddy fields in the district, paddy has been planted in 8,922 hectares of land so far, said Bikash B.K., Information Officer at the Agricultural Knowledge Centre, Syangja. 

He said that the area of paddy plantation is increasing as the plantation activities is going on smoothly after it rained well. 

The planting has gained momentum after the regular rains for the last few days, he added.

Although paddy planting is almost complete in the municipalities in the northern part of the district, planting is still underway in the municipalities in the southwestern part, he said.

According to the Agricultural Knowledge Centre, paddy plantation is continuing in various fields of Chapakot Municipality, Galyang Municipality and the paddy fields on the banks of Jyagdikhola and Andhikhola.

In the northern part of the district, the practice is to plant paddy by mid-july, while in the southwestern parts, sowing is done till July end.

The farmers who are planting paddy are excited that they have received fertilisers on time. 

Surya Prasad Poudel of Waling Municipality-10 said that there is no problem in purchasing fertiliser this year.

The practice of planting improved varieties of paddy has increased in the district recently.
