By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 11: The film Captain Saab has officially begun its production.  According to the film unit, the auspicious commencement ceremony took place on Thursday at Gaurighat, Kathmandu. Directed by Dipendra K. Khanal, Captain Saab is a biographical film based on the life of Captain Rameshwor Thapa.

In addition to being a pilot, Rameshwor is also a businessman and a media entrepreneur. During today’s Muhurat shot of Captain Saab, entrepreneur Dr. Upendra Mahato and Captain Thapa jointly gave the official clapboard to mark the beginning.

The lead roles in the film will be played by actors Khagendra Lamichhane, Saugat Basnet, actress Surakshya Panta, and actor Sanjog Rasaili.

Dipendra had previously cast Khagendra and Surakshya in lead roles in the film Dhanapati.

Since then this is the first time these three are collaborating in a single film. Dipendra and Khagendra, however, have continued working together in various projects. The film’s cinematographer is Krishna Bahadur Thapa, and the shooting will take place in various locations across Kathmandu, Chitwan and Kavre.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in the first week of mid-August.

“We aim to make a full entertainment film based on the ups and downs in the life of Captain Rameshwor Thapa, using some cinematic liberty,” said director Khanal.

“From the challenges faced in the skies, to the respect received at the local level, and the variety of people encountered in the business world, these elements will make it an extraordinary film,” he added. In addition to Yarsa Studio, Rich Entertainment is also associated with this project.

The film is being produced by director Khanal himself, along with Karan Shrestha and Shristima Khanal. The executive producer is Sirjana Napit.

The film is written by Dipendra K. Khanal.
