By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 25: The NECOS Cup National Roller Skating Speed Competition concluded successfully at the Hetauda Skate Park, showcasing thrilling performances from emerging talent across the country.
The event featured 150-meter races for participants above 12 years and 90-meter races for those under 12, with over 100 skaters competing across four categories divided by age and gender. The competition was organized by the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association on June 22-23.
In the boys' under-12 division, Dikan Mahatara claimed first place, with Ayush Syangtang finishing second. In the above-12 category, Bajra Dong emerged champion, while Sunil Lama and Ayush Rumba secured second and third place, respectively.
On the girls' side, Suraksha Pradhan topped the under-12 group, followed by Kalpana Rai and Samista Pradhan. In the above-12 category, Kathmandu’s Muskan Magar clinched the gold, with Nayana Shakya and Ayushma Shahi Thakuri completing the podium.
Among the standout performers, Rashmi Suchikar (girls under-12), Nishika Lama (girls above-12), and Sushil Shrestha (boys above-12) were recognized as the best skaters in their respective groups.
According to General Secretary of the association Satya Thapa, winners of each category received cash prizes of NPR 10,000, 5,000, and 3,000 for first, second, and third place respectively. Additionally, top skaters were awarded trophies, certificates, and NPR 2,000 each.
The panel of judges included Dilip Raj Baral, Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, Prashuna Lama, Yogina Shrestha, and Bikash Lama.
