We have increased diplomatic engagement and results will be good: Foreign Minister

Kathmandu, June 13: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intensified its diplomatic engagements actively and expected this will yield good results for the country's foreign relations.     

While informing about the work of the ministry at today's meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee of the Federal Parliament, she mentioned that after being appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, she has increased diplomatic activities with Nepal's friendly countries and the global community.     

Minister Dr Rana said, "Diplomacy is a process. Results are not achieved immediately the very day. We are trying to establish our issues by increasing Nepal's participation and involvement in the global community, international platforms, and bilateral and multilateral meetings. I believe that good results will come out of this."     

In response to the questions of the parliamentarians, Foreign Minister Dr Rana stated that by organizing the 'Sagarmatha Sambaad', a multilateral dialogue, Nepal, which is facing problems due to climate change, has worked to establish its 'agenda' in the global community.     

Stating that the action plan passed by the Sagarmatha Sambaad will be promoted in the global climate-related programmes to be held from COP 30 onwards, she said the participation of neighbouring countries like India and China, as well as many other countries and international organizations in the Sagarmatha Sambaad, along with their commitment to support and collaborate on Nepal's issues, is also a diplomatic achievement for Nepal.     

She shared that Nepal has no labour destination and activities have been forwarded with coordination of Home Ministry and Ministry of Labour and Employment regarding Nepalis reached foreign countries illegally.     

Minister Rana added that different types of essential services including passport and consular are being to Nepali citizens in any country of the world.     

She briefed that parliamentary committee that there is a situation where modality of cooperation might be changed due to political scenario developed in international level and Nepal needs to consider the diplomatic initiatives it will take forward.(RSS)
