Nepali runners dominate Everest Marathon

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 30: Nepali runners dominated the podium in both the men's and women's categories at the Everest Marathon 2025, held in Solukhumbu on Thursday.

Suman Kulung won the men’s 42-kilometer full marathon with a time of 3:50:26 hours. Gopal Tamang finished second in 3:55:12 hours, while Arjun Kulung Rai secured third place with a time of 4:02:35 hours.

In the women’s category, Lakpa Ngama Sherpa claimed the title, clocking 5:15:46 hours. Anita Rai (5:28:09 hours) and Dil Kala Kulung (6:40:31 hours) finished second and third, respectively.

Nepal also dominated the Extreme Ultra Category. Man Kumar Rana Magar won the 70-kilometer race, crossing the finish line in 8:08:07 hours. Kiran Kulung followed in second place with 8:33:45 hours, while Dhan Raj Kulung took third with 8:35:01 hours.

In the foreign runners’ category of the full marathon, Rune Hany of Norway secured first place, finishing in 5:19:32 hours. Sam Veyvoret of Belgium and Serge Joshua Albahoaye of the UK claimed second and third positions, respectively.

The women's foreign category title went to Jin Zhu of the USA, who completed the race in 7:11:01 hours. Veronica Giuffre Serata of Moldova and Adela Megaschiedova of the Czech Republic finished second and third.

In the 21-kilometer half marathon, Jordi Andreau of Spain took first place. Amar Subba of India finished second, while Mark John Stobell of the UK secured third place.
