Parents beat infant to death

By Bom Lal Giri, Nawalpur, Apr.22: A four-month-old baby has died after being beaten and tossed forcefully by parents in Baudikali Rural Municipality-1, Nawalpur.

According to the Nawalpur police, 35-year-old father Dipendra Pariyar and 21-year-old mother Kamala Pariyar allegedly assaulted their four-month-old baby while under the influence of alcohol on Monday night. 

The severely injured child was immediately taken to Rampur Hospital in Palpa by his grandfather with the help of locals.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhu Nepal, Information Officer at the District Police Office, said that the baby died in the course of treatment in the hospital.

DSP Nepal said that the parents, who were under the influence of alcohol, left the child seriously injured on the balcony of the house and fled.

He said that the police have now taken the father, Dipendra, and the mother, Kamala, into custody on charges of murdering the baby.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
