Lalitpur (Godavari), April 19: The
Central Zoo, Jawalakhel has established rapid rescue team to address any harm
caused to wildlife across the country.
The central rescue team of the zoo
remains active in the Kathmandu Valley while rescue units are also operating in
Chitwan, Bardiya, Shuklaphanta and Koshi regions, said the zoo chief,
Satyanarayan Shah.
Urging people to report any
incidents of injury, orphaned or suffering against wildlife, he said as soon as
information is received about such incidents a trained rescue team immediately
reaches the spot and rescues the concerned wildlife.
The rescue team has rescued animals
not only within the valley but also throughout the country. Shah shared that a
leopard was rescued twice in Ramechhap a few days ago. The rescue work was
completed in coordination with the zoo and the concerned agencies within a
short time after being reported about it.
Shah has requested the general
public to immediately inform the relevant agency or the zoo authorities about
any mistreatment, attack or neglect of wild animals. He believes that this will
play an important role in wildlife conservation as well. (RSS)
