Patan (Lalitpur), April 14: Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiribabu Maharjan, has said the transnational exchange of noble practices is instrumental in developing prosperous and well-planned towns.
During his address to the Nepal National Pavilion (Hangzhou), an exhibition of Nepali products organized in Hangzhou, China to mark 70 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, the Mayor expressed hope that the cross-border exchanges of skills and knowledge, and artistic heritage related to infrastructure and urban development would greatly support the building of environmentally friendly cities.
He highlighted that Lalitpur is rich in art, culture, and heritage. Nepal's diverse artistic and cultural legacy, he said, has the potential to gain international recognition and significantly contribute to promoting tourism. The country’s historic and archaeological significance can be further explored and shared with the world, he added.
Reflecting on China's rapid development, Mayor Maharjan stated that Nepal too can achieve greater prosperity through mutual goodwill and cooperation with China.
He added that the Nepali delegation arrived in China with the good wishes and blessings of the people from the land of Gautam Buddha and Araniko. He warmly invited Chinese citizens to visit Lalitpur and experience its unique art, culture, and heritage.
Meanwhile, Hangzhou Vice- Mayor Chen Weiqiang viewed that Buddhism, art, and culture have played a vital role in strengthening Nepal-China relations. He further said that the expo is crucial for enhancing social, cultural, and economic cooperation between the two nations.
He said he is pleased for having an opportunity to welcome the Mayor of Lalitpur and hoped the exhibition would further strengthen people-to-people ties between Nepal and China.
Nepal's ambassador to China, Dr Krishna Prasad Oli echoed the role of the event to promoting the Nepal's art, culture and product in China.
The delegation led by the Lalitpur mayor left here for China on Friday to take part in the expo.(RSS)
